An OS/I-65 Actiorione Launches Its Weapons

My X-wing inspired 80s military spacecraft fires its weapons. Everything happens slowly in outer space, including the start of a war.

In 1984 Ronald Reagan started the Strategic Defense Initiative, a project to develop a new generation of space-based weaponry. Critics called it "Star Wars." Taking that as inspiration, I've been creating 80s spacecraft modeled after the iconic spaceships of the Star Wars franchise.

Here's the X-wing as a USAF interception monolithic space station. It is armed with four interceptor vehicles that can rocket off to destroy Soviet satellites. The interceptors are based on the Inertial Upper Stage, which in real life was used by the Space Shuttle to launch interplanetary probes. Here, they get a more sinister application.

It doesn't have sound, but "Reach for the Dead" by Boards of Canada is the preferred soundtrack.
