Real Star Wars - Rebels/NATO side

These are alternate history 80s spacecraft based on the Rebel ships from Star Wars. The US started the Strategic Defense Initiative in 1983 with the goal of building military spacecraft. It was quickly nicknamed the Star Wars program. Since SDI programs included lasers and space bombs, it was easy to see why people got the impression that it was the stuff of science fiction. The behind this program was to imagine what SDI would look like in Ronald Reagan's mind if he actually had been thinking about Star Wars. I came up with a space station with launchable interceptors (X-wing), a nuclear weapons platform (Y-wing), an orbital rail gun (B-wing), and an unmanned spaceplane interceptor (A-wing.) Since the X-wing has always been my favorite Star Wars ship, I did it again. This one is a smaller satellite, like a beefed up Brilliant Pebble, which was a real part of the historical SDI program.
