Here's one of the most unhinged proposed space projects I have come across. This is the Convair Space Cruiser, a 1973 DARPA study for a crewed space interceptor, presumably for ASAT duties. The manned capsule was based on the shape of MIRV warheads. But, riding a man-sized nuclear warhead wasn't the wildest thing about the design: it was meant to launch from an undersea submarine on top of a modified Poseidon missile. Fortunately for both astronauts and the world at large, this project never came to fruition. Convair really seemed to have a thing about placing people inside of glorified missiles.
