As NASA prepared for future space stations in the 70s, they realized they needed an all-purpose logistics spacecraft. One concept was the Big Gemini (also called the Big G), an idea to take existing Gemini hardware and repurpose it for a much larger supply vessel. The crew capsule was expanded greatly, seating a crew of up to 12. It was mated to a big cargo module, complete with a docking probe in back. Budget cuts and a focus on the Space Shuttle led to the cancelation of the program.
