Brilliant Pebble

The Brilliant Pebbles were a ballistic missile defense system proposed by the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and funded through the Strategic Defense Initiative. The United States would launch a massive constellation of Pebbles, covering the whole globe. The Pebble was stored in a life jacket providing power and start tracking until a launch was detected, at which point it would separate from the life jacket and intercept its target.
